Traditionally the rail industry has managed the clear dangers of tonnes of metal hurtling down a track at 60 mph well. However as the industry evolves, trains get faster, more track carries a current, rail density increases, the proximity between rail and community shrinks and the impact of rail on the national economy rockets. The risks associated with this industry are constantly changing. And all the time the reliance and expectations on the rail infrastructure keep growing.
