Petrotechnics’ CEO Phil Murray delivers speech on “How Process Safety Management can be improved with New Risk Management Insights “ at OTC Brasil 2013
04 November 2012, Houston, Following an invitation by CCPS, Petrotechnics’ CEO Phil Murray joined senior industry leaders from around the world to share perspectives, best practices and new knowledge at leading event, OTC Brasil 2013.
Murray joined a prestigious panel with ABB Consulting, BP, Petrobras and Statoil to discuss the importance and requirements for a systematic based risk approach to improve Process Safety Management (PSM) and asset integrity risk.
Murray’s panel presentation discussed how overall operational risk can be viewed more holistically when both asset integrity risk and work management risk are considered. Where organisations have a consistent and clear picture of their true risk profile – the barrier impairment status, day-to-day work risk and the dynamic interaction of the two – they can make far more effective decisions that can lower risk, allowing more work to be done safely. People can make smarter, better informed decisions to build improvements in overall plant health and lower operational risk, without impacting production efficiency. Murray spoke at length about the importance of technology to provide betters means of not only understanding operational risk, but being able to proactively manage it more easily in a standardised and systematic way with easy to use tools.
The panel Q&A session discussed how the industry can move beyond reactive legislation and rule-setting to optimised and proactive safety cultures using intelligent and systemic PSM systems.
