Alan has spent his whole working life in the Oil industry, principally for BP, initially as a process engineer, then in project and operational management, and finally in general management.
Before becoming BP’s Regional Director for Scotland, Alan worked in Germany, Singapore, Indonesia and finally Colombia, where he was responsible for BP’s US$6bn development there.
In the UK, he served on the Government’s task force in 1998/9 on the future of the oil industry, and has also worked on a number of consulting assignments and as a non-executive director in the industry.
Alan was educated at London University and has a BSc in Chemical engineering. He also attended the Harvard University Advanced Management programme.
