The Reality of Risk


A challenge most organisations face is relating the performance of process safety systems in a meaningful way to the operational reality of the plant. This is where people dynamically intervene to operate, maintain, and fix equipment on the plant. It’s where process systems operate, where people are hurt, equipment is damaged. It’s where the plant demonstrates its age, and it’s where the impact of deferred maintenance is felt. This is where operating procedures are used and where incidents and accidents continue to occur.

To cut right to the chase, plant operations are dynamic, and conditions change over time – as does the operational risk we carry.
