Russian Delegation visit Petrotechnics
27 November 2007
Aberdeen-based Petrotechnics, a global leader in transforming frontline operations, recently hosted a high level delegation from Rostechnadzor (RTN) – the Russian equivalent of the UK’s Health and Safety Executive. The four members of the delegation were accompanied by a representative of the Sakhalin Energy Investment Company (SEIC) two representatives from Technology Assessment Unit (TAU) and an interpreter.
Petrotechnics were asked to host the visit on behalf of SEIC, with a view of the RTN gaining a better understanding of the processes and behaviours that a Sentinel PRO® implementation promote. A key aspect of this visit was to assess how work control processes comply with UK legislation and the effect they have on safety improvement.
During the visit the group had presentations from the HSE, Oil & Gas UK, Shell as well as visiting the Shell St Fergus plant to see a work control in operation using Sentinel PRO® (ISSOW). The visit was viewed very positively by the delegates, who were impressed by the level of involvement of all concerned.
John Broomfield, Petrotechnics Solutions Manager, hosted the visit and commented that “all the objectives of the visit were met and our guests were extremely pleased with the progress made during their time in Aberdeen. They will now be able to make an informed decision on the future development of legislation in the Russian Federation and the adoption of ISSOW electronic work control processes in Sakhalin.”
